Berk Ganesh in detail
Ganesha, the most popular of all Indian gods, is perhaps the best known. He is considered to be the son of Parvati and Shiva. According to legend, Shiva withdrew to meditate and Parvati created a son out of solitude. When Shiva returned, he cut off the son's head out of anger. When he realised what he had done, he ordered the head of the first person who passed by to be placed on Ganesha's body to revive him. This head was that of an elephant - a new god was born, uniting the powers of Shiva and Parvati.
It is said that he removes all obstacles from the way. That is why he is often invoked before endeavours. He ensures material and spiritual prosperity and is therefore regarded as the patron saint of business people. But Ganesh should also be present at every new beginning, be it a move or a new job, as he blesses the new situation and promises good luck.
Ganesha has four arms that represent the four aspects of the subtle body: Mind, Ego, Spirit and Consciousness.
