The iodine-potassium iodide solution is a 2% solution known to contain a vertically held drop of 2.5 mg iodine. The solution does not contain any food or dietary supplement and should be stored in a cool, dry place. All ingredients of the solution are tested according to the European Pharmacopoeia. The solution is also known under various other names such as Lugol's solution, potassium triiodide and Lugol's iodine solution. Its ingredients consist of 94% water, 4% potassium iodide and 2% iodine, made from potassium iodide, iodine and double-distilled water.
