Wendl nasopharyngeal tube in detail
The Wendl tube (nasopharyngeal tube) is inserted via the nose. The tip comes to rest in the throat. It is used to keep the airways clear by preventing the base of the tongue from falling back in unconscious patients. It is therefore particularly suitable for treating patients who are difficult to ventilate and for keeping the airway open (without intubation). It virtually replaces the Esmarch handle for mask ventilation.
