Berk Ganesha, 3 cm in detail
Ganesha, probably the most popular of all Indian gods, is regarded as the son of Parvati and Shiva. According to legend, Shiva withdrew to meditate and Parvati created a son out of solitude. When Shiva returned, he was overcome with anger and rage and cut off Ganesha's head. After realising what he had done, he ordered the head of the first living creature that passed by to be placed on Ganesha's body to revive him. It was an elephant - a new god had emerged, combining the powers of Shiva and Parvati.
Ganesha is often invoked to remove obstacles from the way. He is therefore worshipped before any kind of endeavour. He brings both material and spiritual prosperity and is therefore the patron saint of business people. But Ganesha's presence is also essential for any new beginning, be it a move or a new job, as he blesses the new situation and brings good fortune.
Ganesha has four arms that represent the four aspects of the subtle body: Mind, Ego, Spirit and Consciousness.
This Ganesha pendant is made of brass and measures 3 cm. With a weight of 40 g, it is small and handy.
