The training model is equipped with four barely recognisable blue veins in three different sizes, with the fourth vein located deep down. When the IV catheter is inserted into the vein, the correct needle placement is simulated by a realistic blood return. This helps to improve hand-eye co-ordination, confidence and competence while ensuring patient safety.
The upper and lower parts of the model are connected with a hinge to ensure easy handling. It is leak-proof and has a single tube, so no additional connections are required.
Removing and replacing the vent and stopcock is confirmed by an audible click to ensure everything is properly in place. The top of the model has an integrated hook to securely place the blood bag.
The training model is very durable and can handle more than 3,600 accesses with a 20 g IV catheter.
