L-threonine is an essential proteinogenic amino acid that the body cannot produce itself and must therefore be obtained from food. This amino acid is an important building block of many proteins, especially in the collagen of connective tissue, and contributes to a functioning immune system. L-threonine is found in foods such as fish, meat, nuts, dairy products, soya beans, peas and eggs, with tuna being particularly rich in threonine.
