Laxans-ratiopharm® 10 mg suppositories
Active substance: bisacodyl. Indications: Adults: Short-term use in constipation, in diseases requiring easier bowel evacuation and for bowel evacuation during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures on the colon. Children aged 10 and over: Short-term use for constipation. Available from pharmacies.

Active ingredients:
- 10 mg bisacodyl

- Hard fat
- cellulose powder
Indication:
Anti-constipation agent from the triarylmethane group.
Indications: Adults: Short-term use for constipation, for illnesses requiring easier bowel evacuation and for bowel evacuation during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures on the colon. Children aged 10 years and over: Short-term use for constipation.
Dosage:
- Adults and children over 10 years: 1 suppository (10 mg bisacodyl).
- Onset of action: approx. 10 to 30 minutes after insertion of the suppository.
- The suppositories may only be used for a short time without medical advice.
Side effects:
- Frequent: abdominal cramps, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, nausea.
- Occasional: Vomiting, blood in the stool, abdominal discomfort, rectal discomfort.
- Rarely: Hypersensitivity reactions.
- Very rare: Severe allergic reactions, swelling of skin and mucous membranes, loss of water, inflammation of the colon, brief unconsciousness (syncope).
Interactions:
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using other medicines. Take particular care when taking diuretics, adrenal cortex hormones or cardiac glycosides at the same time.
Contraindications:
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to bisacodyl or any of the other ingredients, in case of complaints such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, flatulence or fever. Do not use in children under 10 years of age.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding:
There are no case reports of adverse effects in pregnancy and breastfeeding. The preparation should not be used at all during breastfeeding.
