Otalgan in detail

The total dose should not be exceeded without consulting a doctor or pharmacist.

How to use?
Warm up the medicine by holding the bottle in your hand for a few minutes. Lie on your side with the ear to be treated facing upwards and drip the solution into the ear canal. The lateral position should then be maintained for about 15 minutes so that the ear drops can take effect. The ear is then loosely closed with absorbent cotton. At the end of the treatment, no absorbent cotton closure is required.

Duration of application?
The usual duration of treatment is 5 days. Under the supervision of a doctor, the duration of treatment is unlimited.

Overdosage?
If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor immediately.

As a general rule, ensure that the dosage is accurate, especially for infants, small children and the elderly. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist about any effects or precautionary measures.

A dosage prescribed by a doctor may differ from the information in the package leaflet. Since the doctor will adjust it individually, you should therefore use the medicine according to his instructions.

The information provided here is based primarily on side effects that occur in at least one in 1,000 patients treated.

How does the ingredient of the medicine work?

Phenazone: The active ingredient primarily has an analgesic, antipyretic and, to a lesser extent, anti-inflammatory effect. It is thought to inhibit certain messenger substances, known as prostaglandins, which are necessary for the sensation of pain and the development of inflammation. The substance probably reduces fever by directly attacking the temperature regulation center.
