The Buddha Kanakamuni is a particularly important Buddha from times gone by. His name translates as "the sage of gold", as it is said to have rained gold at his birth. For the first 3000 years of his life, he led a normal family life with his wife and daughter, before retiring for a short time and attaining enlightenment. It is said that this enlightened man spent another 30,000 years on earth.
