They should always remind you of the divine and bring protection and blessings to the entire universe and all life. If you have problems or suffering, you can hand them over to the wind for transformation by hanging up a prayer flag so that life can flow again. The colourful flags are symbolic of the five elements and are said to dissolve over time through the effects of the sun, wind and rain. This is intentional, as it allows the blessing to reach the five elements.
