Ambu Baby in detail
The Ambu Baby is a realistic manikin that reflects the appearance and anatomy of a one-year-old baby. It was specially developed for training in modern resuscitation measures and places particular emphasis on lifelike anatomical features. The realistic anatomy means that the pressure point can be found correctly during the exercise. The Ambu Baby also features a palpable brachial pulse, natural breathing sounds through the mouth and nose and an open airway when the head is properly hyperextended.
To ensure maximum hygiene and safety during training, the Ambu Baby has a patented closed hygiene system. This protects against cross-infection and ensures realistic airway resistance.
During ventilation, the airways only open when the head is correctly hyperextended. During training, mouth-to-mouth ventilation can be used to visualise the lifting of the chest. Ventilation that is too forceful can cause the stomach to become distended. Airway obstruction can also be simulated.
