Erler Zimmer simulator for central venipuncture in detail
This training device has been specially developed for training ultrasound-guided central venipuncture and puncture based on anatomical structures. It enables learners to find the puncture site by recognising important anatomical landmarks. Artificial blood can be drawn by inserting a needle into the veins. Learners have the opportunity to perform a central venipuncture by creating a negative pressure in the syringe. The return flow of air indicates that the puncture of the lung is faulty.
This training device has been specially designed for training punctures. It is not possible to use catheters and guidewires. Using the ultrasound device, students can practise puncturing the internal jugular vein, the subclavian vein and the vein above the clavicle. When pressure is applied to the internal jugular vein, the vein is deformed into an oval shape by the ultrasound probe. Please note that the ultrasound device works differently on the model than in the human body. Therefore, the images that you generate of the model with the ultrasound device may look different from those of the patient.
