Erler Zimmer Stoma Trainer in detail
This model shows a stoma retraction in which the stoma is retracted below skin level. You can use the model to practise how to clean and replace the pouch. The dilation of the stoma and the application of post-operative and permanent stoma pouches can be demonstrated and practised. It is often difficult to achieve a good seal, so this is an important aspect of the training. You can actually flush the stoma and pump the artificial stool through the model to simulate the flow and excretion from the stoma. The consistency of the stool can be altered by adding water to dilute it.
This model is designed to teach the basics of ostomy care to patients and learners. It features realistic stoma traction and has been carefully designed to provide lifelike function and appearance. The material is soft and flexible to provide the best possible tactile feedback. Included are the model, a stand, syringe, artificial stool, lubricant and instructions in English. The size of the model is 18 x 8 cm and it weighs 1.6 kg.
