Erler Zimmer OGD (oesophago-gastro-duodenoscopy) simulator in detail
This model is a simulator designed to practise the insertion of an endoscope into the upper gastrointestinal tract. The endoscope can be inserted either through the mouth or through the nose. The model also includes replica ulcers and polyps for diagnostic exercises.
Features:
- The simulator is made of silicone plastic and feels like a human body when the endoscope is inserted. The colouring also corresponds to that of the human body.
- Introduction through the nose as well as through the mouth can be trained.
- It is possible to simulate a more demanding anatomy when inserting through the nose. The insertion technique and appearance can be adjusted by moving the septum to the left or right.
- The model enables training in endoscopic examination of the oesophagus, stomach and duodenum. It can also be used to practise insertion into the papilla during retrograde endoscopic cholangiopancreatography.
- Gastric ulcers and early gastric cancer can be found in the stomach. Four interchangeable polyps with Yamada classification I to IV are available, which can be used for diagnostic exercises.
- In the duodenum there is an ulcer.
One half of the model's face can be opened longitudinally to recognise the anatomical structures of the nose, mouth, pharynx and larynx.
