Sterillium in detail

The total dose should not be exceeded without consulting a doctor or pharmacist.

Type of application?

For hygienic hand disinfection, rub at least 3 ml into dry hands for 30 seconds and keep moist. Use twice in the event of contact with pathogens. For surgical hand disinfection, rub into dry hands and forearms for at least 1.5 minutes and keep moist. Rub into dry skin for 15 seconds before injections and punctures. Do not use in the immediate vicinity of the eyes or open wounds. If the solution comes into contact with the eyes, the open eyes should be washed with running water for a few minutes.

Duration of use?

The duration of use depends on the type of complaint and/or duration of the illness and is therefore only determined by your doctor.

Overdose?

If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor immediately.
As a general rule, pay particular attention to conscientious dosing in infants, small children and the elderly. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist about any effects or precautions.
A dosage prescribed by a doctor may differ from the information on the package leaflet. Since the doctor will adjust it individually, you should therefore use the medicine according to his instructions.

What speaks against use?

- Hypersensitivity to the ingredients
What about pregnancy and breastfeeding?
- Pregnancy: According to current knowledge, the medicine has no harmful effects on the development of your child or the birth.
- Breastfeeding: According to current knowledge, there is no indication that the medicine should not be used during breastfeeding.
If you have been prescribed the medicine despite a contraindication, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. The therapeutic benefit may be greater than the risk associated with use in the case of a contraindication.

What adverse effects may occur?

- Dry skin (xeroderma)
- Skin irritation
- Allergic hypersensitivity of the skin (allergic dermatitis)

How do the ingredients of the medicine work?

The medicine is a disinfectant consisting of a combination of three active ingredients. It is used for hygienic and surgical hand disinfection as well as for disinfection in medical areas.

Application

- Disinfection of hands before and after personal contact (hygienic hand disinfection)

- Disinfection in preparation for surgery

- Disinfection of the skin during injections and punctures

Dosage

Hygienic hand disinfection for personal contact:

- 3 ml

- 1-2 times before and/or after contact

- Children, adolescents and adults

- several times a day (if necessary)

- Surgical hand disinfection:

- a sufficient amount

Use in infants and young children only after consulting a doctorGeneral dosage recommendation:

If the symptoms subside, the dose can be reduced to two applications per day.
