Berberil Dry Eye in detail

The total dose should not be exceeded without consulting a doctor or pharmacist.

How to use?
Drop the medicine into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye. Put your head back for the application. After instilling the drops, slowly close the eye and press lightly with your finger on the tear duct between the nose and the inner eyelid. If you wear soft contact lenses, you should remove them before applying the medicine and only reinsert them approx. 15 minutes after instillation. You do not need to remove hard contact lenses when using the medicine.

Duration of use?
In principle, the duration of use is not limited, so the medicine can be used for longer periods. However, you should consult a doctor for long-term or permanent treatment of dry eyes.

Overdosage?
No overdosage symptoms are known. If in doubt, consult your doctor.

As a general rule: Ensure a conscientious dosage, especially for infants, small children and the elderly. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist about any effects or precautionary measures.

A dosage prescribed by a doctor may differ from the information in the package leaflet. Since the doctor will adjust it individually, you should therefore use the medicine according to his instructions.

Storage before opening
The medicine must be stored away from heat.
Storage after opening or preparation

What about pregnancy and breastfeeding?
- Pregnancy: Consult your doctor. Various considerations play a role in whether and how the medicine can be used during pregnancy.
- Breastfeeding: Consult your doctor or pharmacist. They will check your particular situation and advise you accordingly as to whether and how you can continue breastfeeding.

If you have been prescribed the medicine despite a contraindication, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. The therapeutic benefit may be greater than the risk associated with the use of a contraindication.what adverse effects can occur?

Side effects have only been described for this medicine and have only occurred in exceptional cases.

If you notice a change in your state of health or a change during treatment, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

For the information provided here, side effects occurring in at least one in 1,000 treated patients are taken into account.
- If several eye drops/eye ointments are used, an interval is required between applications.
- In very rare cases, patients with pronounced corneal damage developed clouding of the cornea due to calcium deposits during treatment with phosphate-containing eye drops.
- There may be drugs with which interactions occur. You should therefore generally inform your doctor or pharmacist of any other medicine you are already using before starting treatment with a new medicine. This also applies to medicines that you buy yourself, use only occasionally or have been using for some time.
How does the ingredient of the medicine work?

The active ingredient of the medicine is hypromellose. In healthy eyes, the corneal surface is moistened by mucus-forming substances (mucin). In the case of dry eye and particularly in the case of mucin deficiency, the administration of artificial tear fluid is indicated. Hypromellose is particularly suitable here, as it adheres well to the cornea and conjunctiva and ensures sufficient moistening.
