Naratriptan HEXAL for migraine 2.5mg in detail

The total dose should not be exceeded without consulting a doctor or pharmacist.

How should it be used?
Take the medicine with liquid (e.g. 1 glass of water).

Duration of use?
The medicine should only be used once per migraine attack.

Overdosage?
Overdosing can lead to nausea, vomiting, dizziness and tiredness, among other things. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor immediately.

As a general rule: Pay particular attention to conscientious dosing, especially with infants, small children and older people. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist about any effects or precautionary measures.

A dosage prescribed by a doctor may differ from the information in the package leaflet. As the doctor will adjust it individually, you should therefore use the medicine according to his instructions.

Always:
- Hypersensitivity to the ingredients
- Coronary heart disease (circulatory disorders of the heart muscle)
- Prinzmetal's angina (special form of angina pectoris)
- History of heart attack
- Circulatory disorders in the brain region, also in the past (transient ischemic attack)
- History of stroke
- Special forms of migraine (without headache), such as
- Basilar migraine (severe dizziness, speech and visual disturbances)
- Familial hemiplegic migraine (long aura phase during which half-sided paralysis can occur)
- Ophthalmologic migraine (disorder of the eye muscles)
- Circulatory disorders of the periphery (e.g. arms, legs)

Under certain circumstances - talk to your doctor or pharmacist:
- High blood pressure
- Impaired kidney function
- Impaired liver function
- Possible risk of vasoconstriction of the heart, as with
- Smoking
- Nicotine replacement therapy
- Increased fat concentration in the blood (especially cholesterol) in menopausal women and men over 40 years of age
- Obesity in menopausal women and men over the age of 40
- Diabetes mellitus (diabetes) in menopausal women and men over the age of 40

Which age group should be considered?
- Children and adolescents under 18 years of age: The medicine must not be used.
- Elderly patients aged 65 and over: As a rule, the medicinal product should not be used in this age group.

What about pregnancy and breastfeeding?
- Pregnancy: Consult your doctor. Various considerations play a role in whether and how the medicine can be used during pregnancy.
- Breastfeeding: Consult your doctor or pharmacist. They will check your particular situation and advise you accordingly as to whether and how you can continue breastfeeding.

- The ability to react may be impaired even when used as directed, especially at higher doses or in combination with alcohol. Pay particular attention if you are driving or operating machinery (including household machinery) that could injure you.
- Prolonged use of painkillers can lead to headaches caused by the painkiller. Talk to your doctor to prevent your headaches from becoming chronic.
- Take care if you are allergic to sulphonamides!
- Take care if you are allergic to binders (e.g. carboxymethylcellulose with the E number E 466)!
- Caution in case of allergy to colorants (e.g. indigocarmine with the E number E 132)!
- Take care if you are intolerant to lactose. If you have to follow a diabetes diet, you should take the sugar content into account.
- There may be medicines with which interactions occur. How does the ingredient of the medicine work?

The active ingredient comes into contact with special binding sites in the body, the so-called 5HT-1 receptors. This contact triggers the following reactions: the blood vessels dilated during a migraine contract again and the release of certain messenger substances that trigger pain and inflammation is stopped.
