Nutritional supplement with organic artichoke extract (Cynara scolymus) containing 2.5 % cynarin.
The artichoke originates from the Arab countries and spread to the Mediterranean region around 2000 years ago. It belongs to the daisy family and is a thistle flower. The artichoke was already used as a medicinal plant in ancient Greek mythology and by the Romans. Nowadays, the flower buds of the artichoke are consumed as a vegetable. Although the vegetable contains special ingredients, the artichoke extract is obtained from the leaves of the artichoke, as these contain the highest proportion of bitter substances. One of the most important bitter substances in the artichoke is cynarin. One capsule contains 650 mg artichoke extract with 16.25 mg cynarin.
