The Kanakamuni statue is a depiction of an ancient Buddha who bears the title "the golden sage". He was born in a legendary way when there was golden rain. For the first 3000 years of his life, he led a normal family life with his wife and daughter. Then he withdrew for a short time and attained enlightenment. It is said that the Enlightened One stayed on earth for another 30,000 years.
