It should only be used by specialised personnel.

Duration of use?

Overdose?

Intravenous injection of high doses can lead to acute kidney failure due to kidney stones and to premature breakdown of red blood cells (haemolysis) in patients with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, particularly if kidney function is impaired. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor immediately.
As a general rule: Pay particular attention to conscientious dosing, especially with infants, small children and older people. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist about any effects or precautionary measures.
A dosage prescribed by a doctor may differ from the information in the package leaflet. As the doctor will personalise it, you should therefore use the medicine according to his instructions.

What should you be aware of?

- Take care if you are allergic to ascorbic acid (vitamin C)!
- There may be medicines with which interactions occur. You should therefore always tell your doctor or pharmacist about any other medicine you are already taking before starting treatment with a new medicine. This also applies to medicines that you buy yourself, use only occasionally or have been using for some time.

How does the active ingredient of the medicine work?

The active ingredient is water-soluble vitamin C. It supports the immune system in the fight against pests and, together with vitamin E, renders aggressive oxygen compounds and so-called free radicals harmless. Less serious illnesses such as a cold or flu-like infection are positively influenced. It also accelerates blood clotting, keeps some toxic heavy metals in check and enables the body to absorb more iron from the intestines. The active ingredient can also act as a buffer, helping to make a medicine more stomach-friendly.

Application

- Vitamin C deficiency

- Reduced oxygen transport of red blood cells (methaemoglobinaemia) in children

The medicine is mainly used to treat vitamin C deficiency if it cannot be corrected by diet or by oral medication.

Dosage

As the dosage of the medicine depends on various factors, it should be individually tailored to you by your doctor. Patients with renal impairment: In consultation with your doctor, you may need to reduce the individual or total dose or increase the interval between doses. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice on this.
