How to use

Apply the medicine to the affected skin area(s). The area(s) treated with the medicine can be covered with a bandage. Temporary skin discolouration may occur at the site of application.

Duration of use?

The application should be continued until the symptoms have subsided. The medicine should not be used for longer than 5 days without medical advice. If symptoms recur after completing treatment, please consult your doctor.

Overdose?

In the event of an overdose, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, headaches, cramps and even collapse may occur. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor immediately.
In general: Pay particular attention to conscientious dosing, especially with infants, small children and the elderly. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist about any effects or precautions.
A dosage prescribed by a doctor may differ from the information on the package leaflet. Since the doctor will adjust it individually, you should therefore use the medicine according to his instructions.

Storage

The medicine must be stored away from heat.

What speaks against use?

- Hypersensitivity to the ingredients
- Hyperthyroidism
- Thyroid disorders, also in the past
- Thyroid autonomy (certain form of hyperthyroidism)
- Dermatitis herpetiformis Duhring (immune disorder with itchy rash with blister formation)
- Impending or recently completed radioiodine therapy
What age group should be considered?
- Infants under 1 year of age: The medicine must not be used.
What about pregnancy and breastfeeding?
- Pregnancy: Consult your doctor. Various considerations play a role in whether and how the medicine can be used during pregnancy.
- Lactation: Consult your doctor or pharmacist. They will check your particular situation and advise you accordingly on whether and how you can continue breastfeeding.
If you have been prescribed the medicine despite a contraindication, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. The therapeutic benefit may be greater than the risk associated with use in the case of a contraindication.

What adverse effects can occur?

Always:
- Hypersensitivity reactions of the skin, such as:
- Itching
- Reddening of the skin
- Blistering
- Contact dermatitis (allergic skin reactions that only occur with repeated use)
Under certain circumstances, if large quantities of the active ingredient are absorbed, e.g. in the case of burns and long-term use.
- Disturbance of the salt balance
- Changed concentration of water-binding substances (osmotic) in the blood
- Impaired kidney function
- Disturbance in metabolism with hyperacidity of the blood (metabolic acidosis)

How does the ingredient of the medicine work?

Iodine is bound to carrier substances and used to reduce germs (disinfection) and to support wound healing. Iodine is effective against a variety of pathogens such as bacteria, viruses and fungi.
