Crotamiton cream for the treatment of scabies
Active ingredients
- 100 mg crotamiton
- Excipients: benzyl alcohol, D-limonene, eugenol, farnesol, linalool, citral, benzyl salicylate, benzyl benzoate, coumarin, isoeugenol, citronellol, glycerol monostearate, and more.
Dosage
- Apply a thin layer to the affected areas of skin once a day.
- Use on children under 3 years of age only under medical supervision.
Duration of use
- Repeat treatment for 3 to 5 consecutive days until the symptoms subside.
Side effects
- Occasional: Itching.
- Rarely: Contact dermatitis, hypersensitivity reactions such as rash, eczema, redness.
- Not known: Temporary redness and feeling of warmth.
Contraindications
- Do not use in case of allergy to crotamiton or any of the excipients and in case of acute weeping rash.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Only use after careful consideration of the risk-benefit ratio; during breastfeeding only if absolutely necessary and if breastfeeding is stopped.
Patient information
- Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
- In the event of hypersensitivity reactions, discontinue use immediately and seek medical advice.
- Use in children under 3 years of age only under medical supervision.
