The active ingredient loosens stuck mucus in the airways. The thick mucus becomes thinner and its adhesion to the mucous membranes of the bronchial tubes is reduced. This reduces mucus build-up and makes it easier to cough up.
When applied locally, the active ingredient can numb mucous membranes on the surface and thus alleviate a sore throat for a short time, for example.
