The information provided here is based primarily on side effects that occur in at least one in 1,000 patients treated.
- The medicine itself can lead to a feeling of nasal congestion. If you try to eliminate this feeling with the help of this product, you run the risk of permanently damaging the nasal mucosa. The effect can occur after only 5-7 days of use.
- There may be drugs with which interactions occur. You should therefore generally inform your doctor or pharmacist of any other medicine you are already using before starting treatment with a new medicine. This also applies to medicines that you buy yourself, use only occasionally or have been using for some time.
How do the ingredients of the medicine work?
The medicine consists of a combination of active ingredients. The active ingredient xylometazoline contracts the dilated veins of the nasal mucosa. This reduces the excessive blood flow to the olfactory organ and swells the mucous membrane. Breathing through the nose is made easier. In addition, it no longer runs constantly. The active ingredient dexpanthenol heals damaged skin and mucous membranes. It is related to pantothenic acid, a vitamin that is involved in important metabolic processes in the body. Damaged skin or mucous membranes lack pantothenic acid. Dexpanthenol is converted into pantothenic acid in the body and thus compensates for the missing vitamin. This protects the nasal mucosa and accelerates the healing of damaged mucous membranes.
