Tick forceps in detail

Simple and easy to use for removing ticks

The tick forceps from Dr. Schick are successfully used by doctors in practice and are also recommended for laypeople to safely remove ticks.

General information

The removal of attached ticks often causes problems for laypeople. It is essential to avoid using oil or other substances to remove the tick, as this increases the risk of infection.

Tick forceps

The mouth parts (incorrectly referred to as the "tick head") often tear off and get stuck in the skin. This can be prevented by twisting the tick out of the skin.

The twisting movement enables careful pulling. In addition, the twisting movement stabilises the area between the tick's mouthparts and body, which in most cases prevents the "tick's head" from being torn off.

Fixed ticks can be grabbed using the tick forceps from Dr. Schick tick tweezers and twisted out with 2-3 turns:

  • Press the push buttons
  • Position the tweezers on the tick
  • Twist the tick out slowly

After removing the tick, the bite site should be disinfected. A tick should be removed as early as possible to reduce the risk of infection.

After a tick bite, medical attention should be sought in any case if:

  • Local redness occurs at the site of the bite
  • Symptoms such as malaise, headache or fever occur, similar to a flu-like infection.
