Erler Zimmer Peter PICC Line in detail
Peter PICC is a unique teaching model specifically designed to practice the insertion of peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs). This portable and lightweight model shows all important anatomical structures such as the vena cava, subclavian, jugular, mediana basilica, basilica and cephalica. The movable chin allows the occlusion of the jugular vein to be simulated to facilitate catheter insertion.
The Peter PICC allows healthcare professionals to practice sterile techniques for catheter preparation and insertion. The tactile ribs can be used to practise estimating the correct catheter length from the insertion point to the 2nd or 3rd intercostal space. The correct position of the catheter tip in the transparent superior vena cava can also be checked.
It is also possible to insert a standard IV catheter into the large veins of the arm, which can still be recognised through the translucent arm skin. The Peter PICC Line model contains an upper torso with neck, chin, right arm, ribs, muscle tissue, arm skin, body skin, body vein set with translucent superior vena cava and fluid container with tubes. The entire set is supplied in a robust and soft fabric carrying bag, which also contains an additional accessory bag.
