The medical product Lactofem® lactic acid vaginal suppositories are available to maintain and restore the natural pH value in the vagina. These vaginal suppositories contain no hormones, colourings or fragrances and can be used in cases of bacterial vaginosis to alleviate typical symptoms such as excessive discharge and odour. If you are prone to recurrent vaginal infections, the vaginal suppositories can also be used for long-term preventive treatment.
Bacterial vaginosis is the most common cause of vaginal infections and occurs when the physiological vaginal environment is disturbed. Normally, an acidic pH value prevails in the vagina, which is maintained by lactic acid-producing bacteria and protects against bacterial infections. Various factors such as hormonal fluctuations, certain medications or contraceptives can influence the pH value and lead to bacterial vaginosis.
Lactofem® Lactic Acid Vaginal Suppositories regulate the pH value in the vagina and support the vaginal flora in helping itself. The lactic acid it contains regenerates and stabilises the natural pH value, helps to maintain the health of the vaginal mucosa and can also be used preventively against recurrent vaginal infections.
The composition of the vaginal suppositories includes (S)-lactic acid, sodium (S)-lactate solution, macrogol 1500 and macrogol 6000.
