Indication: Bisolvon® is used to treat diseases of the upper respiratory tract and lungs in cattle and pigs that are associated with increased mucus production. It is administered via the feed.
Active ingredient and composition
1 g powder contains
- Active substance: bromhexine hydrochloride 10 mg

Contraindications
Bisolvon® should not be used in animals with incipient pulmonary oedema. It is not intended for animals whose products are intended for human consumption.
Dosage
Bisolvon® powder is administered via the feed:
- Cattle, calves, pigs: 0.5 mg bromhexine hydrochloride per kg body weight/day (equivalent to 5 g Bisolvon® powder per 100 kg body weight/day).
- Pigs with a body weight of less than 20 kg should only be treated in small groups.
- The powder should be mixed well into a portion of the feed before each application to ensure complete mixing. Care should be taken to ensure that the entire dose is consumed.
- The dose should be divided evenly into two feedings, ideally in the morning and evening.
Treatment should be continued for several days until symptoms such as coughing, lung noises and nasal discharge have subsided. A parenterally administered preparation should be preferred for animals with a disturbed general condition or loss of appetite.
Waiting times
- Pigs: 0 days for edible tissues
- Cattle, calves: 3 days for edible tissues
- Do not use in animals whose milk is intended for human consumption.
Storage instructions
Protect the medicinal product from moisture and do not use after the expiry date on the container.
Use during pregnancy or lactation
Studies in laboratory animals have shown no teratogenic effect of bromhexine hydrochloride. No effects on fertility and lactation have been observed.
Interactions with other medicinal products
If antibiotics or sulphonamides are administered at the same time, the increased secretory capacity of the bronchial mucosa caused by bromhexine can lead to an increased concentration of antimicrobial substances in the bronchial secretions. Bisolvon® should not be used together with antitussives (secretion congestion).
Overdosage
The likelihood of side effects due to an overdose is low, as bromhexine hydrochloride has a low toxicity.
