This traditional herbal veterinary medicinal product (phytotherapeutic agent) promotes cardiovascular function in dogs, cats and horses that are not used for food production. The beneficial effect of hawthorn is based on oligomeric procyanidins (OPCs), which are contained in the extract and specifically support the heart. Crataegus ad usum vet. guarantees a consistently high proportion of these heart-protecting plant substances.
Active ingredients and constituents
- Medicinally active ingredients:
- Extract of hawthorn fruit (1:0.75-1.5): 663.0 mg
- Extract of hawthorn leaves with flowers (1:2-4): 22.0 mg
- Other ingredients: Ethanol 96 % (V/V), purified water
- Contains 44.7 % alcohol by volume
Indications
Traditionally used to support cardiovascular function. This medicinal product is based on many years of use and experience.
Dosage and use
Unless otherwise prescribed by the vet:
- Horse: 2 ml (40 drops) 3 to 5 times daily
- Foal: 1.5 ml (30 drops) 3 to 5 times a day
- Large dog: 1 ml (20 drops) 3 to 5 times a day
- Medium dog: 0.75 ml (15 drops) 3 to 5 times a day
- Small dog, cat: 0.5 ml (10 drops) 3 to 5 times a day
- Puppies: 0.25 ml (5 drops) 3 to 5 times a day
Note: 1 drop corresponds to 0.05 ml of liquid. The 250 ml pack comes with a measuring cup for easy dosing.
Further information
The use of Crataegus ad usum vet. is not limited in time. If an administration is forgotten, the application can be continued as normal.
