Here we have the perfect volunteer for your nursing students to practice i.m. injections. It is always available to be demonstrated in class and practised by groups of 1-30 people. It enables both visual and tactile learning. A simulated bony structure is embedded in the torso, representing the upper end of the femur, the greater trochanter, the posterior and anterior superior iliac spines and the sacrum. This bony structure provides tactile anatomical landmarks to determine the correct injection site. Part of the upper outer quadrant is cut out to show the learner the underlying structures. The gluteus medius and maximus muscles, the sciatic nerve and the vascular structures can be clearly recognised. Three types of intramuscular injections can be taught and practised: dorsogluteal, ventrogluteal and vastus lateralis injections. The shape of the skin and muscles as well as the bone structure and position are modelled exactly on the human body. Piercing the tissue creates the sensation of actually administering an injection. A supply of syringes and a robust case are included in the scope of delivery.
