Sonnentor mate tea loose in detail
We are passionate about mate. Its bitter-sweet flavour is created by gently drying the leaves. The South American tea is traditionally served in a calabash, a container made from the skin of the gourd. However, it tastes just as good in a cup. Caution: Not a tea for the evening hours, unless you have a lot planned.

How much caffeine does mate tea contain compared to coffee?
The mate bush Ilex paraguariensis contains caffeine just like the coffee plant.
The caffeine content varies from 0.5 to 1.5% in mate, between 0.8 and 1.5% in the roasted Arabica coffee bean and between 1.5 and 3.0% in the Robusta coffee bean.
80 to 85% of this caffeine content is transferred to the infusion.
This means that mate tea has less caffeine on average than coffee, but coffee made from Arabica beans and mate tea are certainly comparable.
