OMEP HEXAL 20mg in detail

The total dose should not be exceeded without consulting a doctor or pharmacist.

How to use?
Take the medicine with liquid (e.g. 1 glass of still water). To make it easier to take, you can open the capsule and disperse the contents with a spoonful of still water and, if desired, mix with a little fruit juice or apple sauce and take. Make sure that no residue remains in the glass.

Duration of use?
You should not use the medicine for longer than 14 days without medical advice. If symptoms persist or recur regularly, you should consult your doctor.

Overdosage?
If the medicine is used as described, no overdosage symptoms are known. If in doubt, consult your doctor.

Have you forgotten to take it?
Continue taking the medicine as normal at the next prescribed time (i.e. not with twice the amount).

As a general rule: Pay particular attention to conscientious dosing, especially with infants, small children and older people. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist about any effects or precautionary measures.

Which age group should be considered?
- Children and adolescents under 18 years of age: The medicine should not generally be used in this age group.

- Pregnancy: According to current knowledge, the medicine has no harmful effects on the development of your child or the birth.
- Breastfeeding: According to current knowledge, there is no indication that the medicine should not be used during breastfeeding.

- Hair loss
- Change in liver values
- Water retention (oedema), especially in the legs or arms
- Feeling unwell
- Magnesium deficiency
- Benign tumour of the gastric mucosa

- The ability to react may be impaired even when used as intended, especially at higher doses or in combination with alcohol. Pay particular attention when driving or operating machinery (including household machinery) that could cause injury.
- Avoid excessive UV radiation, e.g. in solariums or during extended sunbathing, because the skin reacts more sensitively during the use of the medicine.
- The medicine can mask symptoms that indicate a serious illness. You should therefore consult your doctor before taking the medicine if you have prolonged symptoms.
- Take care if you are intolerant to sucrose. If you have to follow a diabetic diet, you should take the sugar content into account.
- There may be medicines with which interactions occur. You should therefore always tell your doctor or pharmacist about any other medicine you are already taking before starting treatment with a new medicine. This also applies to medicines that you buy yourself, use only occasionally or have been using for some time.
How does the active ingredient of the medicine work?

The active ingredient inhibits the release of stomach acid from the so-called parietal cells of the gastric mucosa. It blocks a specific site there that is responsible for the release of stomach acid via a pump mechanism.

Application
