What is a larynx tube?

The larynx tubus is used to secure the airways in unconscious patients.

Compared to other respiratory protection methods, he has two important advantages:

  • The application is simple and with one low risk tied together. This can also be used by inexperienced.
  • While you put the larynx tube, you can at the same time a cardiac massage carry out.

Find the right Larynxtubus size

  • Size 0: For newborns below 5 kg (color: transparent)
  • Size 1: For babies from 5 kg to 12 kg (color: white)
  • Size 2: For small children from 12 kg to 25 kg (color: green)
  • Size 2.5: For larger children from around 125 to 150 cm (color: orange)
  • Size 3: For adults, smaller than 155 cm (color: yellow)
  • Size 4: for adults from 155 cm to 180 cm (color: red)
  • Size 5: Greater than 180 cm for adults (color: violet)

Components of the Larynxtubus:

  • Hose (tubus): In contrast to theEndotrachealtubus this is closed at the end.
  • Cuffs: In the middle of the tube there is a big one, at the end a small cuff. They serve to seal the throat and the esophagus (esophagus).

Apply larynxtubus in 5 steps:

Step 1: Prepare the respiratory tract

Provide the following items:

Step 2: Insect the Larynxtubus

You don't need thatLaryngoscope. Bring the patient's head into a neutral position and open his mouth. Keep the tube vertically over the patient and now insert it along with the tip along the hard palate.

Make sure not to push your tongue back. Now push the tube forward until the black marking has reached the incisors. The larynx tubus should be in the esophagus.

Step 3: Cuffs block and Ventilation start

Now block the Cuffs based on the cuff syringe. Do not hold the Larynxtubus. As soon as throats and esophagus are sealed by the Cuffs, the air can only flow into the lungs. Connect the ventilation bag to the tube and now start the Ventilation.

Step 4: Perform a visual inspection

If the breast's chest is visible, they have correctly attached the tube. If you also carry out a cardiac massage at the same time, you have to briefly interrupt it for visual control.

Step 5: Fix the tube

Fix the tube so that it stays in position.

When is the larynx tube used?

  • As an alternative to intubation: Intubation does not succeed or if you want to avoid it, the Larynxtubus is a good alternative. This avoids the risk of misinterpretation and vocal cord injuries.
  • As part of a resuscitation (also in emergencies "on the street"): On the one hand, the larynx tube can be placed while the heart pressure massage runs. On the other hand, the application is easy and can therefore also be carried out by inexperienced users.

What do you have to pay attention to in the Larynxtubus?

  • Choose the right size: Stick to the information mentioned above.
  • Do not apply it with heavy traumatic brain trauma: By pressing the Cuff on the surrounding tissue, the venous drainage of the brain can be hindered. The result: the pressure in the brain increases and brain edema could develop.
  • Block the cuff slowly and carefully: This avoids pressure points in the throat area, on the tongue or esophagus and swelling of the mucous membranes.

What is the difference between Güdel, Wendl, Endotracheal and Larynx tube?

  • Larynxtubus: This is an alternative airway. It is used if intubation is not succeeded or consciously avoided. The application is simple and with little risk, which means that it can also be used by inexperienced. It is used in both OPS and preclinical emergencies.
  • Güdel Tubus: It is inserted over the mouth and prevents the tongue from slipping backwards and thereby laying the airways. He will be for the non -invasive Ventilation unconscious patients used to Ventilation to facilitate.
  • Wendl Tubus: In contrast to theGüdel Tubus inserted over the nose. As a result, it can also be used in awakening patients in which oneGüdel Tubus would trigger a gag reflex. You can do the Wendl Tubus Also use when patients squeeze their pine together.
  • Endotrachealtubus: This tube will be for the invasive Ventilation used. You insert it into the trachea over the vocal creep. It is characterized by a low risk of aspiration, but is difficult to apply. It should therefore only be used by experienced anesthesia and internists.

Suitable accessories

Ventilation mask: TheVentilation mask Can with aVentilator, Circle orVentilation bag be combined. Thanks to the elastic edge, an airtight cover on the face is possible.

Ventilation bag: For the manual Ventilation becomeVentilation bag used. They are ideal for emergency doctors and rescue workers and are used as a backup in the operation if thatVentilator fail.

Ventilation devices: The machine Ventilation withVentilation devices is a safe alternative toVentilation bag. It enables comprehensive monitoring and several ventilation modes.

Oxygen bottle: With us you will findOxygen bottles in different sizes - handy bottles for the emergency bag as well as large onesOxygen bottles for hospitals or care facilities.
