Oral calcium supplementation promotes remineralization of the skeleton in the case of calcium deficiency.colecalciferol is physiological vitamin D3, which is converted in the kidneys and liver to calcitriol, the active substance of vitamin D3. Calcitriol is responsible for the absorption of calcium and phosphate from the intestine supplied by food. The utilization of calcium and its reabsorption from the kidneys are also dependent on vitamin D. The substance promotes the mineralization of bones and thus inhibits their breakdown.
