Heparin-ratiopharm® 60 000 ointment
Active ingredient:
Heparin sodium
Indications:
- Supportive treatment for acute swelling following blunt injuries.
- Additionally for superficial phlebitis, if compression treatment is not possible and organic vascular diseases have been ruled out.
Warning:
The ointment contains cetyl alcohol, potassium sorbate and a fragrance with specific ingredients.
Dosage and application:
- Apply a thin layer to the affected area 2 to 3 times a day.
- If used under a bandage, apply the ointment thickly and use an elastic bandage if necessary.
Duration of application:
- Maximum 10 days, unless otherwise prescribed.
Note for users:
- If symptoms such as swelling, a feeling of warmth or skin discolouration occur, seek medical advice immediately to rule out possible serious reactions.
Patient information:
- Do not apply to open wounds or weeping eczema.
- If new or unusual symptoms occur, especially in connection with application to the skin, seek medical advice.
Interactions and side effects:
- Interactions with other medicinal products are not known with topical application of heparin.
- Possible side effects are rare and may include allergic reactions, which usually subside after discontinuation of the ointment.
Special information for pregnant and breastfeeding women:
- Seek medical advice before use, also with regard to possible effects on anaesthesia during childbirth.
