Method of application?

Apply a thick layer of the medicine to the affected area(s) of skin. Then massage the medicine in gently. The area(s) treated with the medicine should be covered with a bandage. You should remove the ointment residue before each dressing change.
Wash your hands thoroughly after use.
Avoid accidental contact with the eyes.

Duration of use?

The duration of use depends on the nature of the symptoms and/or the course of the disease. When used as a permanent dressing, the dressing should be changed after 3 days at the latest. If symptoms persist or recur regularly, you should consult your doctor.

Overdosage?

Overdosage may cause skin irritation. If in doubt, consult your doctor.
As a general rule, pay particular attention to conscientious dosing, especially with infants, small children and older people. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist about any effects or precautions.
A dosage prescribed by a doctor may differ from the information on the package leaflet. Since the doctor will adjust it individually, you should therefore use the medicine according to his instructions.

Storage before opening
The medicine must be stored away from heat.
Storage after opening or preparation
The medicinal product may be used for a maximum of 6 months after opening/preparation!
The medicinal product must be stored at room temperature after opening/preparation!

What should you be aware of?

- Caution in case of allergy to shale oil (ichthammol, ichthyol, Tyrolean stone oil)!
- Antioxidants (e.g. butylhydroxyanisole, butylhydroxytoluene) can cause skin irritation (e.g. contact dermatitis), skin irritation (e.g. rashes) and skin irritation.
- Wool wax alcohols (e.g. wool wax, lanolin) can cause skin irritation (e.g. contact dermatitis).
- There may be medicines with which interactions occur. You should therefore generally inform your doctor or pharmacist of any other medicines you are already using before starting treatment with a new medicine. This also applies to medicines that you buy yourself, use only occasionally or have been using for some time.

How does the active ingredient of the medicine work?

The active ingredient ammonium bituminosulfonate is a sulfonated shale oil. When applied to the skin, ammonium bituminosulfonate has a weak antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effect.
