Nasivin nasal spray without preservatives for infants in detail

The total dose should not be exceeded without consulting a doctor or pharmacist.

How to use?
Spray the medicine into the/each nostril. Breathe gently through your nose while spraying. Clean your nose beforehand by blowing vigorously. Before the first application, you should pump several times until a spray mist is formed. To avoid infection, the medicine should only be used by one patient at a time.

Duration of use?
The medicine should not be used for longer than 7 days without medical advice. It should only be used again after a break of several days.

Overdosage?
An overdose can lead to nausea, fever, cramps, respiratory disorders, cardiovascular disorders and cardiac arrest. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor immediately.

As a general rule: Pay particular attention to conscientious dosing, especially with infants, small children and older people. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist about any effects or precautionary measures.

A dosage prescribed by a doctor may differ from the information in the package leaflet. Since the doctor will adjust it individually, you should therefore use the medicine according to his instructions.

The medicine may be used for a maximum of 12 months after opening/preparation!
The medicine must be stored at room temperature after opening/preparation.

Always:
- Hypersensitivity to the ingredients
- Drying of the nasal mucosa with bark formation (rhinitis sicca)

Under certain circumstances - talk to your doctor or pharmacist:
- Cardiovascular diseases, such as:
- High blood pressure
- Coronary heart disease (circulatory disorders of the heart muscle)
- Enlargement of the prostate
- Metabolic diseases, such as
- Hyperthyroidism
- Diabetes mellitus (diabetes)
- porphyria
- Pheochromocytoma (adrenaline-producing tumor)
- Increased intraocular pressure (glaucoma), especially narrow-angle glaucoma

Which age group should be considered?
- Infants under 1 year of age: The medicine should generally not be used in this group. There are preparations that are more suitable in terms of active ingredient strength and/or dosage form.
- Children from 6 years of age: The medicine should not generally be used in this age group either. More suitable preparations are available.

What about pregnancy and breastfeeding?
- Pregnancy: Consult your doctor. Various considerations play a role in whether and how the medicine can be used during pregnancy.
- Breastfeeding: Consult your doctor or pharmacist. They will check your particular situation and advise you accordingly as to whether and how you can continue breastfeeding.

If you have been prescribed the medicine despite a contraindication, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. The therapeutic benefit may be greater than the risk associated with the use of a contraindication.what adverse effects can occur?

- Angioneurotic edema (swelling of the face, hands and feet)

If you notice any discomfort or change during treatment, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

For the information provided here, side effects that occur in at least one in 1,000 treated patients are taken into account.
- The medicine itself can lead to a feeling of nasal congestion. If you try to eliminate this feeling with the help of this product, you run the risk of permanently damaging the nasal mucosa. The effect can occur after just 5-7 days of use.
- There may be drugs with which interactions occur. You should therefore generally inform your doctor or pharmacist of any other medicine you are already using before starting treatment with a new medicine. This also applies to medicines that you buy yourself, use only occasionally or have been using for some time.
How does the ingredient of the medicine work?

The active ingredient swells the nasal mucosa and stops the enormous secretion production of the nose during a cold. This allows patients to breathe more freely again. The active ingredient also relieves eye irritation (caused by draughts, for example) by contracting the dilated veins in the eyeball, thereby reducing the excessive blood flow to the mucous membrane.
