Erler Zimmer ear examination simulator in detail
This simulator allows you to practise examining the external auditory canal and eardrum with an otoscope. You can simulate different cases and practise removing earwax and foreign bodies. The simulator has a sensor that indicates when inserting the otoscope is painful. This indication can be given either by a sound or a light indicator. The light indicator is particularly useful in examination situations, as you as the practitioner cannot see it yourself. The simulator has 2 different sized ear canals and 9 different cases to choose from.
The simulated cases are:
- Normal
- Serous otitis media, SOM
- Mucous otitis media, MOM
- Chronic otitis media with perforation
- Acute suppurative otitis media, AOM
- Cholesteatoma
- Tympanic cavity sclerosis/tympanosclerosis
- Traumatic perforations
- Ceruminal plug
The scope of delivery also includes simulated earwax and two foreign bodies.
