Lösferron® 80.5 mg effervescent tablets in detail
Lösferron® 80.5 mg effervescent tablets are an anti-anaemic agent for the treatment of proven iron deficiency states, in particular iron deficiency anaemia.
Indications:
These effervescent tablets are used for iron deficiency states caused by increased iron loss (e.g. heavy menstrual bleeding, operations, blood donation), reduced iron absorption or increased iron requirements (e.g. during pregnancy).
Dosage:
Adults take 1 effervescent tablet daily, 2-3 tablets for severe anaemia. Children from 16 kg body weight and adolescents take 1 effervescent tablet daily. Dissolve the effervescent tablet in half a glass to a glass of water and take half an hour to an hour before meals.
Duration of use:
Treatment should last at least 8 weeks and should only be continued for longer after consultation with a doctor. An overdose can lead to iron poisoning.
Side effects:
Frequent: discolouration of teeth, which can be removed by thorough brushing. Occasional: Gastrointestinal complaints such as nausea, vomiting, constipation or diarrhoea. Rarely: Hypersensitivity reactions.
Interactions:
The simultaneous intake of certain medications such as tetracyclines, antacids and colestyramine can impair the effect of iron. Vegetarian food, tea, coffee and milk should be taken at different times.
Contraindications:
The preparation must not be taken in the case of iron overload, iron utilisation disorders and by children under 16 kg body weight.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding:
At the recommended dosage, there are no concerns about taking it during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Warnings:
Caution is advised in the case of gastrointestinal disorders. Ingestion may lead to harmless black discolouration of the stool.
Roadworthiness:
The medicinal product does not impair the ability to drive or operate machinery.
