The medicine consists of a combination of active ingredients. The active ingredient ethacridine normalises the increased movement of the bowel through its antispasmodic effect. It also has an antibacterial effect and reduces the permeability of the intestinal wall to fluids. This can counteract diarrhoea. The active ingredient tannin gradually breaks down in the digestive tract. According to the manufacturer, the decomposition products cause the hair vessels, i.e. the finest branches of the blood vessels, in the mucous membrane to contract, making it more difficult for harmful substances to be absorbed into the stomach and intestinal mucous membrane. This also prevents the absorption of diarrhoea-causing substances. The astringent properties of the active ingredient normalise irritated intestinal mucosa.Application
