Acic for cold sores in detail
Acic® cream effectively relieves the pain and itching of cold sores (herpes labialis). The active ingredient acyclovir inhibits the multiplication of herpes viruses and supports healing.
Product details:
- Active ingredient: 50 mg acyclovir
- Excipients: Viscous paraffin, cetyl alcohol, macrogol glycerol stearate, purified water, white vaseline, 150 mg propylene glycol, dimethicone 350
Indications:
- For the soothing treatment of pain and itching in herpes infections in the lip area.
Dosage:
- Apply the cream thinly to the infected skin areas 5 times a day every 4 hours during the day.
- Duration of treatment: Usually 5 days, maximum 10 days. If the condition worsens or does not heal, consult a doctor.
Side effects:
- Occasional: Burning or stinging, drying and flaking of the skin, itching.
- Rarely: Redness, allergic skin reactions (contact dermatitis).
- Very rare: Hypersensitivity reactions such as angioedema and hives.
Contraindications:
- Do not use if allergic to acyclovir, valaciclovir or any of the other ingredients.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding:
- Only use after consulting a doctor. During breastfeeding, contact of the child with the treated skin areas should be avoided.
Instructions for use:
- Apply with a cotton swab to avoid additional infection.
- Do not apply the cream to mucous membranes (mouth, eyes, vagina).
Mandatory information:
- No clinically significant interactions known to date.
- Do not use in cases of severe immunodeficiency (e.g. AIDS) without consulting a doctor.
- No known effects on the ability to drive and use machines.
