How do the ingredients of the medicine work?
Lidocaine: The active ingredient anaesthetises, but only locally. The substance prevents the nerves from transmitting stimuli, thereby making them insensitive to pain and numbing the itching.
The ingredients come from the camomile plant and act as a natural mixture. About the plant itself:
- Appearance: Meadow and field plant with white-yellow flowers and fine, pubescent leaves
- Occurrence: Mainly Europe
- Main ingredients: Alpha-bisabolol or bisoboloids A and B
- Plant parts and preparations used: Extracts, tinctures, pressed juices and essential oil, mainly from the flowers, rarely from the roots
Used internally, camomile relieves cramps in the digestive tract and promotes the expulsion of wind, thus counteracting flatulence.
When used externally as a brush or rinse, its anti-inflammatory properties have been proven. Chamomile preparations are used for skin and mucous membrane inflammations to promote wound healing and inhibit the growth of both bacteria and fungi.
In the upper respiratory tract, camomile has an antispasmodic and soothing effect.
