Erler Zimmer Human skull, 13-year-old in detail
This skull is a perfect example of an adolescent. With the exception of the wisdom teeth, all the permanent teeth have erupted and there are no milk teeth left.
X-ray examination of the original skull showed that the tips of the roots of the incisors, canines and molars are about half to two-thirds closed, which corresponds to an age of 13.5 to 14 years. The crowns of the three wisdom teeth are in an early stage of calcification, the X-ray examination shows no root formation. The early stage of wisdom tooth crown formation is normally completed by the age of 13 years.
