Type of application?

Insert the medicine into the rectum. To improve lubrication, you can dip the suppositories briefly in cold water.

Duration of use?

The duration of use depends on the nature of the symptoms and/or the course of the disease. It should therefore be determined in consultation with your doctor.

Overdose?

No overdose symptoms are known. If in doubt, consult your doctor.
As a general rule, pay particular attention to conscientious dosing, especially with infants, small children and the elderly. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist about any effects or precautions.
A dosage prescribed by a doctor may differ from the information on the package leaflet. As the doctor will adjust it individually, you should therefore use the medicine according to his instructions.

Storage

The medicine must be stored away from heat.

What are the reasons for not using it?

Always:
- Hypersensitivity to the ingredients
- Intestinal obstruction
Under certain circumstances - talk to your doctor or pharmacist about this:
- Abdominal pain of unknown cause
Which age group should be considered?
- Adults: The medicine should generally not be used in this group. There are preparations that are more suitable in terms of active ingredient strength and/or pharmaceutical form.

What about pregnancy and breastfeeding?

- Pregnancy: According to current knowledge, the medicine has no harmful effects on the development of your child or the birth.
- Breastfeeding: According to current knowledge, there is no evidence that the medicine should not be used during breastfeeding.
If you have been prescribed the medicine despite a contraindication, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. The therapeutic benefit may be greater than the risk associated with use in the case of a contraindication.

What adverse effects may occur?

Only side effects that have only occurred in exceptional cases to date have been described for the medicinal product.
If you notice a change in your state of health or a change during treatment, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

What should you bear in mind?

- Only use laxative medicines for a short time without a doctor's recommendation. Longer-term use may lead to chronic constipation and/or other problems. If there is no success after short-term use, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
- Caution: Laxatives are not suitable for weight loss.
- There may be medicines with which interactions occur. You should therefore always tell your doctor or pharmacist about any other medicine you are already taking before starting treatment with a new medicine. This also applies to medicines that you buy yourself, use only occasionally or have been using for some time.

How does the active ingredient of the medicine work?

The active ingredient stimulates the production of mucus in the intestine after being introduced into the rectum, thereby increasing the lubricity of the stool. It also causes increased absorption of water into the bowel and thus both softening of the stool and an increase in volume, which then reflexively results in defecation due to the expansion of the bowel wall.

Application

- Constipation

- Facilitation of bowel evacuation and softening of the stool in certain illnesses, such as painful anal disorders

The medicine should only be used if the constipation cannot be remedied by changing the diet or swelling preparations.

Dosage

- 1 suppository

- 1 time a day

- Infants1 hour before the intended defecation

- 1-2 suppositories

- 1 time a day

- Children1 hour before the intended defecation

- Another suppository can be used for persistent constipation
