Description
Prontosan® is a sterile, ready-to-use solution. The wound irrigation solution contains polihexanide and decylenamidopropyl betaine to effectively and safely remove wound coatings. Prontosan® gently cleans the wound and removes residues from old wound dressings. It also absorbs unpleasant wound odours that bother patients, relatives and carers.
Indications
- Irrigation, cleansing and moisturising of chronic wounds and wound dressings
- Gentle removal of fibrin deposits and wound dressing residues
- Irrigation and cleansing of acute wounds (cuts, bites, lacerations and abrasions), and abrasions)
- Irrigation and cleansing of burn wounds up to grade 2b
- Irrigation and cleansing of donor sites in skin grafts
- Suitable for instillation in vacuum therapy
Contraindications
Pontosan® must not be used in the case of known allergies or suspected allergies to any of the ingredients. It must also not be used on hyaline cartilage and must not be combined with anionic surfactants. Prontosan® should not be mixed with other wound cleansing soaps, ointments, oils or enzymes. When removing such substances from the wound, it must be ensured that they are completely rinsed out, for example with physiological saline solution. It must not be used in the area of the CNS and meninges, the middle and inner ear or the eye.
