Product details & mandatory information

Siccaprotect in detail

The total dose should not be exceeded without consulting a doctor or pharmacist.

How to use?
Drop the medicine into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye. Put your head back for the application. After instilling the drops, slowly close the eye and press lightly with your finger on the tear duct between the nose and the inner eyelid. If you wear soft contact lenses, you should remove them before applying the medicine and only reinsert them approx. 15 minutes after instillation. You do not need to remove hard contact lenses when using the medicine.

Duration of use?
In principle, there is no time limit on the duration of use, so the medicine can be used for longer periods. However, the duration of use depends on the type of complaint and/or duration of the illness and is determined by your doctor.

Overdosage?
No overdosage symptoms are known. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor immediately.

As a general rule: Pay particular attention to conscientious dosing in infants, small children and the elderly. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist about any effects or precautionary measures.

A dosage prescribed by a doctor may differ from the information in the package leaflet. Since the doctor will adjust it individually, you should therefore use the medicine according to his instructions.

Side effects have only been described for this medicine and have only occurred in exceptional cases.

If you notice any discomfort or change during treatment, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

For the information provided here, side effects occurring in at least one in 1,000 treated patients are taken into account.
- The medicine contains a preservative that can accumulate in soft contact lenses. For further information, please refer to the current instructions for use.
- In very rare cases, patients with severe corneal damage have developed clouding of the cornea due to calcium deposits during treatment with phosphate-containing eye drops.
- There may be drugs with which interactions occur. You should therefore generally inform your doctor or pharmacist of any other medicine you are already using before starting treatment with a new medicine. This also applies to medicines that you buy yourself, use only occasionally or have been using for some time.
How do the ingredients of the medicine work?

The active ingredients of the medicine are dexpanthenol and poly(vinyl alcohol). Dexpanthenol heals damaged skin and mucous membranes and is structurally related to pantothenic acid, a vitamin that is involved in important metabolic processes in the body. Damaged skin or mucous membranes lack pantothenic acid. Dexpanthenol is converted into pantothenic acid in the body and compensates for the missing vitamin, allowing the wound to close more quickly. Poly(vinyl alcohol) increases the viscosity of the medicine and has a high adhesive capacity on the cornea. This ensures that the eye drops remain on the surface of the eye for longer and guarantees lasting moisturisation.

Application

- Dry eye wetting when wearing hard contact lenses
