Sonnentor psyllium seeds in detail
The ripe seeds of the plantain species are largely indigestible and a good source of fibre. They taste and smell neutral and should be soaked in liquid for 30 minutes before consumption or taken with plenty of liquid. Mix swollen into yoghurt or use unswollen as a topping for baked goods. OFTEN ASKED
Why do psyllium seeds and psyllium husks have different origins?
Whole psyllium seeds come from a plantain species that also grows in Austria, among other places. We can therefore offer psyllium seeds of Austrian origin. Unfortunately, the epidermis (i.e. the husk) of this variety is not thick enough to produce pure psyllium husks from it.
For this reason, we have to use a special variety of plantain for our psyllium husks - however, these only grow in India or countries with a similar climate.
