SARS-CoV-2 & Influenza A/B Antigen Rapid Test in detail
The SARS-CoV-2 & Flu A/B Rapid Test is a chromatographic immunoassay for the simultaneous qualitative detection and differentiation of the nucleocapsid antigens of SARS-CoV-2, influenza virus A and influenza virus B in human nasopharyngeal swab specimens. This product is intended for professional use in laboratory and near-patient testing environments.
The SARS-CoV-2 & Influenza A/B Antigen Rapid Test distinguishes between infection with SARS-CoV-2 or influenza A or B with a single sample. The test is performed in 4 steps and the test result can be read after 15 minutes. The test is fully integrated and the pack includes a positive and negative control.
The clinical performance of the SARS-CoV-2 & Flu A/B Rapid Antigen Test was evaluated in a prospective all-comers study in the USA. This study was conducted at 4 clinical centres with a near-patient testing environment. Patients over the age of 14 who presented to the testing centres for testing and had symptoms suggestive of upper respiratory tract infections such as COVID-19 or influenza were invited to participate in the study. Individuals who had more than 7 days since the onset of symptoms were excluded. 2 nasopharyngeal swabs were taken from each study participant. In a randomised manner, 1 swab was tested immediately at the study site using the SARS-CoV-2 & Flu A/B Rapid Antigen Test, while the other was sent to a central laboratory for testing using a highly sensitive, US FDA-approved multiplex RT-PCR method as a comparison method.
