Magnesium Verla® N Dragées in detail
Magnesium Verla® N Dragées are a mineral preparation for the treatment of magnesium deficiency states that do not require an injection/infusion. Particularly effective in cases of proven magnesium deficiency leading to neuromuscular disorders such as calf cramps.
Dosage:
- Adults: 3 times daily 1-3 dragées (120-360 mg magnesium).
- Adolescents aged 12 years and over: 1-3 dragées (120-360 mg magnesium) 3 times a day.
- Children aged 4-11 years: 1-2 dragées (120-240 mg magnesium) 3 times a day.
- Children under 4 years of age: Do not use.
- Renal dysfunction: Do not take in case of severe renal dysfunction. In case of mild to moderate renal dysfunction only under medical supervision.
Directions for use:
- Take dragées unchewed with a little liquid, preferably before meals.
Ingredients:
- Active ingredients: magnesium hydrogen L-glutamate-4-water, trimagnesium dicitrate-9-water.
- Excipients: Montan glycol wax, triethyl citrate, methacrylic acid-ethyl acrylate copolymer (1:1), potassium dihydrogen phosphate, glucose solution, povidone K25, vanillin, sucrose, macrogol 6000, macrogol 35000, dimethicone 350, titanium dioxide, glycerol 85%, calcium carbonate, talc.
Side effects:
- Occasional: Soft stools or diarrhoea, especially when taken in high doses.
- Measures in case of side effects: Reduce dose or discontinue use temporarily.
Interactions:
- Avoid: Taking tetracyclines and sodium fluoride preparations within 2-3 hours of magnesium.
- Increased magnesium excretion: When taking diuretics, proton pump inhibitors, cisplatin, aminoglycoside antibiotics, amphotericin B, foscarnet, cyclosporin A, rapamycin, EGF receptor antagonists, pentamidine.
- Medical consultation: Necessary when taking these medicines at the same time.
Contraindications:
- Allergy to magnesium citrate, magnesium bis(hydrogen L-glutamate) or other ingredients.
- Severe renal dysfunction or dehydration of the body.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding:
- May be used if deemed necessary by a doctor.
- No evidence of malformation risk or effects on fertility.
- No adverse effects on breastfed newborns/infants.
Patient information:
- Renal function: Caution in mild to moderate renal impairment; close monitoring by a doctor necessary.
- Children: Not suitable for children under 4 years of age due to risk of swallowing; liquid dosage forms recommended.
- Roadworthiness: No special precautions required.
