Erler Zimmer chest drainage simulator in detail
This trainer has been specially developed for theoretical and anatomical teaching, as well as for learning the skills required to treat pre-hospital chest trauma and care for chest drainage. On the right side of the simulator there are two windows showing the anatomical relationships between the skin surface, muscles, ribs and lungs. On the left side is a simulated tension pneumothorax that can be pressurised using a pump. The simulator also has an access for the surgical insertion of chest drains to practise draining fluid from the pleural cavity for the treatment of pleural effusions. The colour, volume and viscosity of the fluid are controlled by the instructor. This thoracic drainage manikin is particularly suitable for teaching the concepts and mechanical functioning of closed drainage systems with a surge chamber, similar to the "Pleur-Evac" coil. The simulator is supplied with a transport case and also contains 5 spare inserts for each of the two accesses.
